Yes, the newest member of the house does have a name.

Hello all –

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted.  I miss Baby so much, and I was so mad that we got so little time after going through the amp., I needed a bit of a break from the whole cancer-talk thing.

I finally looked at the site again and realized I left you hanging!  I asked for name ideas for the new furbaby and didn’t tell you how it came out.  Her name is Popcorn (Poppy for short).  Her full name is Princess Popcorn of Buttery Goodness.  She has golden highlights that makes her look like someone poured butter on her.  She is a cutie!  It’s taken me a little while to totally warm up to her because I miss Baby so much, but she’s winning me over.

I wish all of you the very best and want you to know how important your support was to us through the process.  I don’t know the answer to the ‘would I do it again’ question.  I’m still not sure if it was for her or for us, but we did have some lovely times during the last few months.

May you all beat the odds!

Roger and I have adopted many furbabies in our 35 years of marriage. Baby is a 6 yr. old 155lb English Mastiff who came to us when she was 1 1/2 yrs old along with her 'brother' Toby (a Landseer Newfoundland). We adopted them from Gentle Giants rescue and they are, indeed, both Gentle Giants. Baby was diagnosed with bone cancer in January 2012. She just had her surgery on January 27th, 2012 to remove her right rear leg. She is recovering beautifully we are thrilled to have her with us!

  1. That is an awesome name. I love it.

Thanks for letting us know. A new furbaby can be a wonderful thing when you are ready. But, it doesn’t mean you suddenly stop missing the one who has moved on. And the whole cancer thing makes it all the more intense.

    Many hugs

  2. Judy, forgive my tardiness in congratulating you for such a great name! I love it. Can we see some pics?

You are always welcome here. I know it’s hard for many people to come back after losing their loved one, so don’t ever feel bad if you’re away. But just know that we will always welcome you and Poppy back with open paws, we would love to follow along on your adventures. Enjoy your new life together!
