Baby has had a couple of ‘down days’. Instead of relaxing and letting her have her extra Med naps I start to worry. My imagination is way to active. I can picture all kinds of awful things. I know it’s a waste of time and it’s putting negative thoughts to the universe, but I just get so stuck sometimes. She’s been slower, not walking as far and she won’t let us know if she’s hurting. It’s been 6 weeks since her surgery. We’re not pushing her too hard , and we don’t expect her to suddenly be very active (she was never very active), but I don’t expect her to backslide. Oy, this is hard. Just had to vent to my tripawd community.

So sorry to hear Baby is not feeling more energized. But I do know with Lylee that it is alot more effort to move about. She was quite an active girl before losing her leg, and now with three even though she would like to do longer walks she gets too puffed. In fact she now gets in her stroller with no prompting like ” I need to get in now! So if Baby wasn’t that active before becoming a Tripawd I wouldn’t worry too much plus being a giant breed needs more energy.
Hugs to you all
Joanne & Lylee
Thanks for your support guys. She seems to be feeling a little better today. I’m still concerned and if she doesn’t perk up a little more later in the week I’ll see the vet.
Bought them a couple of new toys today. Lots of squeaks at our house tonight : )
They’ll be torn up and squeakers gone in a day or two, but it’s fun once and awhile.
Hugs and Wags,
Judy and Baby
Oh Judy, I know exactly how you’re feeling. Gandalf is at 6 weeks tomorrow, and for some reason he seems to be quiet. Not hurting necessarily, just quiet. Maybe this is something that always happens about now?
Do you find Baby will perk up if there’s an activity going but otherwise just stay quiet? That seems to be what Gandalf is doing. I was putting it down to his new harness, doing his magic cape stairs…etc. But he really was fine on the beach this morning.
I will be thinking of you and Baby. It’s pointless telling you not to worry, that’s not acknowledging your anxiety. One thing you might do is start a diary and write down the activities, whether Baby is eating etc. Maybe we’re just not remembering how well they’re doing? And if there is something, having a diary will help the vet know if there should be blood tests or something.
hugs and woofs for Judy and Baby!

not good to know you are worrying, it will make baby worry too. our gayle wasn’t an olympian prior to her surgery, and she settled into a more sedentary life post amp.. she was ten at the time, so that might have been a part of it.
if there are definite changes, then a trip to the vet is always an idea, and it might help ease some concerns… but maybe it’s just all of this ‘daylight savings time’ stuff, and the change of seasons, and allergies, and just life… take a breath, give baby a hug, and go take a medicinal nap with her…
