Baby’s idea of a perfect walk these days.

Baby's favorite walk

Smart girl – she just sits and waits for Toby and Dad to get around the block.  She seems to feel like she’s joining in on the walk this way.  I hope she gets stronger, but at least she’s happy!

Roger and I have adopted many furbabies in our 35 years of marriage. Baby is a 6 yr. old 155lb English Mastiff who came to us when she was 1 1/2 yrs old along with her 'brother' Toby (a Landseer Newfoundland). We adopted them from Gentle Giants rescue and they are, indeed, both Gentle Giants. Baby was diagnosed with bone cancer in January 2012. She just had her surgery on January 27th, 2012 to remove her right rear leg. She is recovering beautifully we are thrilled to have her with us!

  1. Very cute pic!! Valentina got tired alot too. I never could take her for walks after her amputation. She loved to hang out in the yard though. One of her favorite things to do was just stand there observing all of her surroundings. Lots of Tripawds are eventually able to go on walks again though. Valentina just got tired fast and didn’t like walking on the hard road. Glad that Baby can still find a way to be included. Maybe she will be able to go after a while.

  2. It’s good to see that Baby is participating in life. I don’t know if she’ll do it, but I know my boy especially likes to take long walks. Tripawds can doo anything! : )

  3. I’m sure she’s happier on the curb than in the house, wondering what she’s missing out on!

Rumbles isn’t able to walk for very long either. We started very slow and added distance bit by bit. But even nine months later, anything more than around the block is too much for him.

He does better at the park where he can run on grass. I think the momentum of running and soft surface is actually less tiring for him than a slow-paced hoppy walk.

  4. Boomer isn’t up for long walks yet either but he sure likes to sit outside, absorb the sunshine and smell the freash air. Here’s hoping both our furry kids will one day soon go for a nice walk with us.
    Hugs,
    Boomer and Tina
