Baby’s heart : )

So I’m about to go to work this morning and a warning light comes on saying tire pressure is low.  This is such a no big deal problem, yet for some reason, all the emotions I had been holding in decided to burst out.  I went in the house and had one of those gut wrenching sob cries.

Suddenly, I heard this soft whimper/howl sound.  I had never heard it before, then I looked at Baby and sure enough – she was crying with me.  This is a dog who has never complained about any pain, about surgery, about post-op pain, or anything! Yet, here she was being empathic and comforting for me.

My Baby’s heart is as big as she is!  Love my girl!

Roger and I have adopted many furbabies in our 35 years of marriage. Baby is a 6 yr. old 155lb English Mastiff who came to us when she was 1 1/2 yrs old along with her 'brother' Toby (a Landseer Newfoundland). We adopted them from Gentle Giants rescue and they are, indeed, both Gentle Giants. Baby was diagnosed with bone cancer in January 2012. She just had her surgery on January 27th, 2012 to remove her right rear leg. She is recovering beautifully we are thrilled to have her with us!

  1. Aww, Judy, I am so glad that you and Baby both let go of some stress. You both have been so strong for each other during this whole process that both of you probably needed a good cry just to get rid of some portion of all the bottled up stressful emotions. Crying is very good therapy and I am glad that beautiful Baby of yours shared a good cry with you. If Boomer and I had been there with you, we would have probably joined you. Take care of yourself.

    1. We would have loved to have you and Boomer join us. We should have a big ‘let it out’ party! It did feel good.

  2. Yep, sometimes it’s a grain of sand that weights the scale too much. Maybe some kind of “tripawd howl day” would be a good idea. Dakota is a howler, so he’d love to join. And this winter has been incredibly stressful for a lot of folks here so you might be able to hear it for a long way! It’s a good thing you and Baby have each other.

  3. Look at the bright side- at least you had your moment at home so Baby could help you out instead of at a store or something where they might have locked you up!!
The quad pugs might join in the howling too- just let us know when!
